Bio.
Wanying Ling (凌宛莹) is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Hong Kong.
My research operates at the intersection of demography, sociology, and epidemiology, focusing on three core topics: work, health, and migration. I investigate various non-standard forms of work, along with their determinants and consequences. Additionally, I examine multidimensional measures of health and well-being and their inequalities over the life course, particularly in the context of population aging. Furthermore, I focus on the dynamics of work and health from the perspective of family-based migration, exploring how these factors interact and influence overall population well-being. I employ a wide variety of multi-source data—including census records, social surveys, interviews, biographies, and biomarkers—alongside quantitative and computational methods to delve into these topics.
My recent research interests include: health implications of non-standard employment; workers in the informal economy; unpaid domestic and care work.
